Seniors day at Rancho Cordova this August 2021

List of Interesting Events in Rancho Cordova this August

We list some of the most exciting local events in Rancho Cordova this August. Ranging from gardening and arts and craft to senior activities and youth boot camps, we hope that our list can help you make this month productive, fulfilling, and above all, fun.

1. Carnivorous Plants Workshop (free)

As we spend more time at home, it is not surprising that gardening has bloomed around the country during the pandemic. But instead of the usual orchids and other conventionally pretty flora, why not try your hand at growing carnivorous plants?

In line with the COVID-19 safety protocols, the organizers will limit the free workshop to 25 attendees on August 18, although they will “Livestream” it on Zoom for anyone who wants to join the event.

2. DIY Garden Planter Boxes

This hands-on workshop, which is ideal for gardeners and amateur woodworkers, will help attendees assemble and decorate their planter box using pre-cut salvaged lumber from a redwood tree.

The workshop organizers will provide attendees with tools and supplies, although they can also bring their own.

The workshop is held by Urban Wood Rescue, a program under the Sacramento Tree Foundation that aims to give fallen trees a “second life” by keeping them out of landfill.
